Collinsville

The City of Collinsville is an energetic community that boasts the fifth-fastest growing population in the St. Louis metropolitan area, having nearly doubled in population over the last 20 years. This unprecedented growth has Collinsville primed to be the centerpiece of the aggressive expansion currently taking place across the entire St. Louis Metro East area.  It is the ideal home for St. Louis Soccer United –  the area’s newest professional sports team and the largest mixed-use development project in the history of Southwestern Illinois.

Steeped in history, culture, and diversity, Collinsville features a vibrant and working downtown which welcomes residents and visitors alike with a small-town atmosphere while offering big-city amenities. Already the leading tourist destination in the metropolitan area outside of St. Louis, St. Louis Soccer United looks forward to being a part of the many great Collinsville attractions and businesses like the Gateway Convention Center, Fairmount Park Racetrack, Cahokia Mounds World Heritage Site, Collinsville Area Recreation District, and the many family fun parks, golf courses, and health clubs.  And that’s just to name a few!

Originally settled in 1810 and incorporated as a city in 1872, Collinsville was originally “put on the map” by the first National Road which was envisioned by George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and ran through the city after being authorized by Congress in 1806. Just like that road which helped unite this newly-formed country in the 19th century, St. Louis Soccer United hopes to do the same for Collinsville, accentuating the city as a premiere destination on the regional sports and entertainment map in the 21st century on both sides of the river.

The St. Louis Soccer United project is destined to be yet another civic treasure for the City of Collinsville. The proposed stadium and surrounding development will be a year-round destination for sports and entertainment seekers in the area while bringing in fans and consumers from around the country and even the world during soccer season. Fast-approaching the 200th anniversary of its initial settlement which will occur in 2010, Collinsville stands on the brink of being a globally recognizable city as the home of a Major League Soccer franchise and a world-class soccer venue and entertainment village.
