Two Weeks Down, Two Weeks to Go |
|
August 27, 2007 by Jeff Cooper
It has been a very exciting, rewarding and busy two weeks since our St. Louis Soccer United group made its presentation to the Collinsville City Council. Our experience thus far has confirmed without a doubt that our plan to bring Major League Soccer to the greater St. Louis area is well worth the effort. |

We're On the Air, and Interest Is High |
|
August 20, 2007 by Jeff Cooper
I will be on KMOX AM 1120 this evening during the 7 p.m. hour to wrap up what has been a hectic but enjoyable news media blitz over the weekend. I appeared on three St. Louis television stations during their extended weekend sports programs and continue to field interview requests from inside and outside the St. Louis market. I think this is a reflection not only of the interest in bringing Major League Soccer to St. Louis, but simply the heightened awareness that MLS has throughout North America. This can be attributed to a lot of things – MLS matches are easily found on national television, the David Beckham effect is undeniable and the quality of play is better than ever, just to name a few. When I talk about bringing MLS, everyone knows what I am talking about. Better yet, they want to talk about it as well. |

Looking Back at the City Council Meeting |
|
August 14, 2007 by Jeff Cooper
Greetings, everyone. I wanted to take a moment to share the experience of presenting our St. Louis Soccer United group’s proposal last night to the Collinsville City Council. Tonight is the night our group, St. Louis Soccer United,
will make our stadium and property development proposal to the city council of
Collinsville,
Ill. I have characterized the experience of
finally presenting to Mayor Stan Schaeffer and the four
Collinsville city council members as both the
finish line and the start line. Tonight’s city council meeting will conclude many months of
collaboration between our group and the city of Collinsville in the name of
putting together a proposal that will not only work, but work extremely well
for both parties. Obviously, that also
means it has to work for Major League Soccer, our great soccer fans throughout
our region, retailers, developers and much more. We think our proposal will do that, and it
will be an honor to present it this evening. In that regard, the finish line is just ahead. |

Welcome to St. Louis Soccer United - A Message from Jeff Cooper |
|
August 8, 2007 by Jeff Cooper
Hello. My name is Jeff Cooper and I am chairman of St. Louis Soccer United. In simple terms, St. Louis Soccer United is an investment and development group whose purpose is to secure a Major League Soccer expansion team for the St. Louis region. And that effort starts with building a state-of-the-art, soccer-specific stadium. Without it, MLS soccer will not be possible in St. Louis. |
